Seeing Red

Giovanni watched as his daughter paced around the room, circling his desk.

"Daddy, I've been on the job for two weeks, and the only difference so far is that I have a uniform!", she complained. Giovanni's expression of annoyance did not waver.

"Missions take time, Janet", he said sincerely.

"But your the Boss! Just give me a mission! Now!", she demanded, pounding her fist on his desk. "Or I'll call Mommy!"

Giovanni thought a moment. "Why don't you go travel the area with Domino?", he suggested.

Domino pleaded from the shadows. "No, anything but that! I don't deserve that!"

"I want my own mission", Janet told him curtly, folding her arms across her chest. Domino sighed in relief. Giovanni thought a moment.

"Patrol the area, and search for rare Pokemon. When you find one, bring it to me", he told her.

"How will I know if it's rare?", she asked.

"If it's big, powerful and kicks butt, it's rare", he told her. "Now go."

Janet saluted him. "Yessir!"

She exited his dimly lit office, humming a pleasant tune. Domino felt a sweatdrop form on her forehead. "There goes Team Rocket's future, Gio."

"It's a dark and dismal future", he stated, frowning.

Janet walked down stairs to the lobby, with her bazooka across her shoulders. Immediately, a White Rocket trainee scampered over. "Let me help you, Miss DiMarco."

"Thanks, Mondo", she smiled. The older boy smiled back, brushing his shaggy brown locks from his dark eyes. "Anytime, Miss DiMarco."

He took the bazooka and flung it over his shoulder. "First mission?"

"Yeah. So, what do I use for transportation?", she asked. He thought a moment. "Any number of things, really. Hot air balloons, bikes, motorcycles, jeeps, planes, subs... Which one do you want?"

"Motorcycle", Janet said cheerfully. Mondo smiled. "Allrighty, Miss DiMarco."

He took a small transmitter from his pocket and talked into it. "South gate. We need a motorcycle, ASAP."

"Yeah yeah, whatever", the other line buzzed. "I'll get to it eventually."

Mondo frowned. "Do it now!"

"Okay okay! Pushy", the other boy mumbled into his intercom. He pushed a few buttons and within seconds a White Rocket female drove up on a white motorcycle, with a red R emblem on the side.

After a moment, Janet and Mondo strolled up. Janet's eyes glossed over with pure joy. "How cool!"

"Isn't it? Well, I hope you enjoy your mission, Miss DiMarco", Mondo said, saluting to her and handing her the precious bazooka. Janet saluted to him. "Arrivederchi, Mondo!"

Mondo smiled, and waved to the Red Rocket as she mounted her bike and drove off. "Arrivederchi!"

"Cute kid", he mumbled. "Strange, but cute."

Janet rode down the paved road recklessly, causing four or five car crashes. Fearing an appearance by a Jenny, she drove her motorcycle into the woods, to escape the police that would surely come after her.

"Now, where am I?", she asked, stopping her bike in a clearing. She took a map from her pocket and looked it over. "I started here, and drove past here", she mumbled. She pointed to a clearing in the woods part of the map. "Which means I'm here."

She looked in every direction. "But it doesn't tell me where I have to go to find rare Pokemon."

She frowned, and folded the map up, throwing it onto her motorcycle. She looked over her sleek, pink weapon and grew a sudden, overconfident grin.

"Some goody-two-shoes trainers might come by if I shoot into the air", she said, smiling. Taking the pink bazooka, she aimed it straight up, sending off a flare that exploded loudly, sending off in every direction yellow sparks.

"Pika pi", a Pikachu exclaimed, pointing to the blast. His master looked up. "It's a flare."

"How observant, Ash", a girl said with sarcasm. Ash glared at her. "Nobody asked for your opinion, Misty!"

"Guys, guys!", a second boy said. He was older and taller than his two friends. "Please. Let's just go check it out. Someone may need our help."

"Okay, Brock. Come on, Pikachu", Ash said, looking down at his trusty, yellow Pokemon.

"Pika", the rodent squeaked, running by his master's side as the trio tore over to the incident of the flash.

When they got to the small clearing, all they saw was a motorcycle, lying down on the soft grass.

"No one's here", Misty said, looking in each direction. "Then, who sent off the flare?"

"It could be... a trap", Brock stated, looking at the motorcycle. They approached the bike cautiously.

Without warning, footsteps landed behind them, followed by a shrill cry. "Ciao~!"

The trio turned around, and there was Janet, smiling gleefully as she leaned against her pink bazooka.

"I found some trainers, didn't I?", she asked, still smiling sweetly.

Ash's eyes widened. "What do you want?!"

"That R", Misty gasped.

"Ash, she's part of Team Rocket!", Brock told his young, overconfident friend.

"That's right", Janet chirped. "My name's Janet DiMarco, Red Rocket first class. And I'm here to--" Her violet eyes fell upon Ash's Pikachu.

"Aw, how cute!", she squealed, bending down and picking up the Pokemon, hugging it. "It's so cute!"

Pikachu smiled weakly. "Pi-Pika?"

Ash and his friends shared looks of disbelief.

Janet continued to pet the cute mouse. She looked up at Brock. "Hey, you guys don't happen to have any rare Pokemon I can steal, do you?"

Brock felt a sweatdrop form along his forehead. "Us? Uh, no. All we have are common Pokemon. Nope, no rare Pokemon here."

Janet frowned. "Maledicalo", she sighed. "Great, now Daddy won't have any rare Pokemon."

She put Pikachu down and loaded her bazooka onto her motorcycle. She smiled at them. "Sorry. I thought you might have had rare Pokemon."

"Nope, sorry", Misty said, smiling weakly.

"Well, okay. Bye then", Janet chirped, starting up her motorcycle and driving off to the road, where more accidents ensued.

"Nice kid", Brock stated.

"Yeah", Misty and Ash agreed in unison.

"Pika pi."

Janet stopped her motorcycle outside of Team Rocket headquarters, where she saw Mondo packing up a jeep.

He looked up with a smile. "Miss DiMarco! Back so soon?"

Janet nodded. "Yeah. I gotta tell Daddy about this cute Pikachu I saw!"

"Pikachu?", Mondo asked in disbelief. "You saw a Pikachu?"

"It was so cute", she told him. She flung her bazooka over her shoulder and walked past the trainee.

Mondo thought a moment. "No, it can't possibly be the Pikachu Miss Jessie and Mr. James are after... Is it?"

Janet hummed happily as she waited for her elevator. When it arrived, she saw two members of Team Rocket she had seen her father yell at. "Oh, hi!"

Jessie and James looked at one another with confused looks. Why on Earth would a little girl be in a Red Rocket's uniform? They thought it better to not ask questions-- She may have just looked young.

"Going up", Janet chirped. She hit the button of the eighth floor, where he father's office was. Jessie and James decided against speaking to her.

Meowth, who was at their feet, did not decide with his partners. "Hey, little girl. This place ain't a place for you to be trick or treatin'."

Janet scowled down at him. "Excuse me?"

"Halloween's over, kiddo. Besides, this place is for big, nasty thieves. Now why don't you go home where ya came from?", Meowth told her sharply. Jessie and James whistled innocently.

"I'll have you know I'm Janet DiMarco, Red Rocket first class! And I'm not a kid! I'm a preteen!", she shouted, taking her bazooka and hitting Meowth upside the head with it. Team Rocket flooded with fear, as they sunk into the corner.

The elevator stopped.

Janet smiled at them sweetly. "It was nice meeting you", she said in a sugary tone, waving as the elevator doors closed.

"Strange child", James told his partner.

"Must have been a fluke in the system...", Jessie replied.

"Ow", Meowth whimpered.

Janet walked through her father's doors, interrupting his conversation with Domino. The blonde girl scowled. "That was fast."

"I just wanted to tell Daddy something", Janet growled, whacking Domino with her bazooka, sending her flying into the wall. "Oof!"

Giovanni felt a headache coming on. "What is it, Janet?"

"Daddy, can I have a Pikachu? I saw one today and it was so cute!", Janet squealed.

"A Pikachu?", Giovanni asked, his eyes growing wide.

"Yeah, this boy in a hat and his two friends had one. It had the brightest brown eyes...", Janet continued.

"Hat?", Giovanni asked in disbelief.

Janet nodded. "I think his name was Ash."

"ASH?!", Giovanni yelled. "You're telling me you saw Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu?!"

"Well, his name was Ash, and he had a Pikachu, so maybe", Janet told her father, oblivious of the rarity of the Pikachu she held in her arms. "Why?"

"Janet, the team has been after that Pikachu for two years!", Giovanni exclaimed. "Two years and you... Let it get away?!"

"That was the Pikachu you always want to catch?", Janet asked innocently. "Oops."

Giovanni hit his head against his desk sharply. "Why? Why? Why?"

Janet frowned, but she soon smiled brightly. "I know! I can go get that Pikachu for you!"

She saluted her father. "You can count on me!"
