Seeing Red

Janet opened her eyes. Her Eevee had nudged itself to her chest, snoring softly. She closed her eyes and sighed.

"This is ridiculous", she stated. "I'm twelve. I don't need this, do I? I mean, what kind of sane person joins Team Rocket at twelve?"

She nudged her Eevee, who blinked it's eyes open. "Vui?"

"Wake up", she whispered. She sat up, and then her Eevee jumped into her lap. "Vui?"

"I wanna quit Team Rocket", she stated to her faithful pet. Eevee nodded.

"But-", Janet continued. "But I don't want to hurt Daddy's feelings. He was counting on me to be a good Rocket."

"Vui", Eevee barked.

"But I'm just not cut out for the job, Eevee. So, I'm gonna wait a few years. Then I'll become a Black Rocket, and train my way up, on my own."

Eevee nodded with a smile. "Vui!"

Janet stroked it. "I'm glad you think it's a good idea. Hey, why don't we go tell Daddy right now?"

"Vui?", Eevee asked, blinked.

"Yes, now!", the young girl stated. She stood up, dropping her dog to the bed. She ran to her drawers and changed from her uniform into a white pleated skirt and a blue top. She took out a new, yellow ribbon and replaced the burnt one with it.

At the present moment she didn't care if she had burns and scratches on her face. She just wanted to inform her father of her sad decision.

Taking up her courage, she picked up her charred uniform and her Pokemon, and walked out of her room. She walked to her father's office, and slid her security card across, causing the doors to open.

"Daddy?", she asked quietly.

Her father grumbled a response. He and Domino were playing a card game.

"Got any threes?", he asked absently.

"Go fish", Domino smirked.

"Daddy?", Janet repeated. She knocked the cards off the desk, and Domino scowled. "I was winning!"

Janet put her uniform on the desk, and turned her back to her father. "Daddy, I'm sorry to inform you that I no longer want to be a Red Rocket."

Giovanni arched his eyebrows, and grinned widely in joy. He started doing a silent 'git-down' party dance. Domino joined him by doing a similar dance.

"I'm sorry. This must disappoint you", Janet said, her voice shaking.

Giovanni and Domino had begun to do the monkey.

"I'm sorry, but your little girl can't cut it", Janet said, a tear streaming down her cheek. "I'm so sorry..."

Giovanni had opened a bottle of champagne, and he and Domino took turns chugging down the liquid in celebration.

Janet sniffled, and turned around. Her father and Domino were staring at her sternly.

"It's all right, Janet. I understand. I will get over it. You are dismissed."

Janet wiped her tears away. "Oh, thank you Daddy."

"Vui", Eevee agreed.

She skipped out of the room, closing the door behind her.

Domino and Giovanni were silent for a moment.

They looked at one another, and grinned. Giovanni smiled widely, and clapped his hands together. "THERE IS A GOD!!!!!!"

Domino nodded. "A very generous, loving, caring God!"

Janet sighed, and sat back down on her bed. She hugged her Eevee. "Well, that's it, Eevee."

She closed her eyes and whispered, "La mia eredita finito. Arrivederci, Razzo Rosso."
